Walks & Walking
South West England has some of the best walking in Britain.
Much of the region enjoys a stunning coastline and 630 miles of this has coastal footpath stretching from Minehead on the Somerset coast, right around the South West peninsular and finishing in Poole in Dorset. The coastpath is accessible by road or public footpath at many locations and you can link up with stretches of the coastpath using other inland footpaths.
The region is littered with well maintained footpaths, and these are marked on Ordnance Survey maps of the region. You can plan your own route, buy one of the many "walks" books available for different parts of the region, or join guided walks on offer in many areas, such as Dartmoor. There are even books on "pub walks" where pubs are included along the way for well deserved refreshments!
So, whether you just enjoy a short stroll or a serious hike, there's walking for everyone in SW England.
