South West England is a haven for food lovers, and with more Michelin starred restaurants than any other region of Britain, there's no surprise.

But it's not just Michelin starred restaurants which offer excellent food, it's the region's pubs, hotels, markets, and shops. All are selling and cooking up delicious food sourced locally in the region.Purbeck Vineyard, Dorset

Well known chefs come to SW England to live and set up restaurants. The quality of life and environment attracts them, together with access to high quality local food.

Of course the region is traditionally a farming region so local meat, eggs, and dairy produce is readily available and then there's the miles and miles of coastline giving access to fresh fish and shellfish at the region's attractive fishing ports and harbours.The region is also home to more and more vineyards producing good wine.

Traditional foods include: cream teas (scones, jam, and Cream teaclotted cream with tea), cheddar cheese (as well as many other local cheeses), Wiltshire ham, cider, Dorset knobs (traditional biscuits) but there's lots more locally produced food and drink.

Farmer's markets happen regularly all across South West England and many towns and villages have small Farmer's market, Wells, Somersetdelicatessen shops selling local and regional produce. There are more and more food & drink events and festivals happening all across the region.
